COVID Policies for Fall 2020

We will endeavor to follow Saint Louis City Requirements for COVID safety in general, and these policies may change as the threat increases or decreases (i.e. they are subject to change).
While it likely goes without saying, common sense and courtesy rule--if you or someone near you is sick, stay home. Text Amanda B. ASAP if you know you will be absent so she can get your spot filled.

ASSISTANTS are expected to be the subs for the teachers unless a different arrangement is worked out.

Social Events:

  • Rather than an in-person back to school picnic, this year we’ll have a zoom parents’ meeting
  • We will still have the mom's prayer brunch, just outside with masks if not socially distant.
  • We will still have monthly mom's prayer/ social nights, just ideally outside with masks if not socially distant.

In-class Precautions:

  • Upper Elementary and Middle School will wear masks inside; if class/recess is outside, no masks required when social distancing
  • Teachers will wear a face covering when teaching indoors; if class is outside, no mask required when social distancing.
  • Kids under 9 , who are not required to wear masks (though they are welcome to of course!!) will each bring in a labeled towel to sit on outside to help them space out rather than sharing blankets.
  • Classes will be cohorted – each group (Nursery (N), PreK/K, Lower Elementary (LE), Upper Elementary (UE), Middle School (MS)) will stay with its cohort during the entire morning. Benefits of cohorting – keep groups small (per city mandate) and reduce exposure. Middle and Upper Elementary will be together during Morning Meeting time and Recess due to low numbers and same families.
  • Kids will bring their own basic supplies and keep them in their backpacks to reduce sharing common items such as markers, glue and scissors.
  • Hands will be sanitized when class starts, and when each class finishes.
  • Younger groups will have a staggered bathroom break and wash hands before snack time
  • Bathroom times, recess, and snack time will be staggered so only one cohort will use at a time.
  • If a class meets inside, the room will be Lysol/Clorox wiped after each class so it’s clean for the next class
Arrival Procedures:
  • Temperature checks and alcohol scrub will be given upon arrival starting at 9:00; child stickered after they’ve been checked. Families can wait in car to be screened . Assistants will keep track to make sure all kids and adults are screened.
  • After screening, children will then go to their designated class space. Each class will have an outdoor (and indoor when necessary) area, separate from the other classes,  upon arrival.
  • Assistants will be expected to arrive by 9 to be screened and stay with their group in the designated area.
  • Non-assistants need to arrive at 9:10, so as to stagger temperature checks.
  • From 9-9:15 assistants will watch the kids, making sure they stay in their area, and help lead the younger kids in games like Simon Says, Mother May I,  etc until COOP starts at 9:15.
  • Instead of a large group morning assembly, cohorts will have a  "Morning Meeting" starting at 9:15.  Assistants will help lead the students in prayer, sharing and song from 9:15-9:30.

Departure Procedures:

  • Kids will return to their Morning Meeting area after final class for pick-up at 12:15 (note the later ending time!)
  • Parents and children are welcome to stay and picnic for lunch afterwards.
